Global Value Investment Corp’s individual and family client division is Milwaukee Private Wealth Management (MPWM).
MPWM provides Investment Advisory services utilizing value-oriented investment principles. Our Advisory services are focused on working with clients to achieve their long-term goals and create additional net-worth over time. We seek to understand each client’s specific financial circumstance and then offer informed advice in order to anticipate future needs such as retirement.
Our engagement often includes meeting with client’s legal and/or tax counsel to understand intergenerational gifting, estate planning, and income tax preparation. We work in collaboration with client’s other professionals to create appropriate solutions. We take great pride in developing a comprehensive understanding of each of our clients’ unique circumstances and then providing advice based on our many years of experience in investments, as well as other areas related to financial decision making.
Client portfolios are managed separately and on an individual basis. We invest in individual securities, holding a select group of equities, typically 18-22 positions of size, and between 6-8 debt securities. Each equity position must have the potential to provide above average returns over a long investment time-frame while also possessing an adequate margin of safety to provide capital protection. Debt securities are managed to mitigate the uncertainty inherent in equity investing. Client portfolios vary between 0 and 100% in either equity or debt. We prefer to tailor solutions for each client.
We strive to inform clients so they know what they own and why they own it. The firm’s principal owners believe it is good practice to “Eat Our Own Cooking” by holding the very same securities we recommend to clients. We believe there is no better way to align our incentives with those of our clients than to own the same securities.
MPWM’s clients are spread across the United States and come from many different walks-of-life, but one thing that remains the same is the level of trust they place in us. We take that trust very seriously and work day-in and day-out to continuously earn it.

We pride ourselves on our ability to oversee the larger financial picture for clients by working closely with families and individuals that have attained a high level of wealth, as well as those that are in the process of doing so.
Clients choose to work with MPWM for a few different reasons. What we hear most often is that clients recognize their need for a value-oriented investment manager that invests in securities of individual company securities. Clients appreciate our perspective as outside counsel concerning their financial lives. We also believe that the people that choose to do business with us do so because they have an understanding that the cost of dedicating their time and effort to investment research and analysis comes at the cost of spending time with their family or enjoying other interests.
MPWM has a stated minimum investment of $1,000,000. We recognize that many people in the accumulation phase of their life may have less, and as such are willing to entertain new client relationships where a strong investment philosophy is shared. If you believe that we may be a fit, please feel free to contact us.
MPWM is a fee based Investment Advisory firm. We receive compensation only from clients. We have a simple advisory fee structure based on a percentage of assets under management (AUM). We do not charge transactional fees, commissions, or other extraneous expense for doing business and do not pay or receive fees for client referrals.
Client assets are held by a third party custodian allowing each client direct access to their account assets, and complete and full transparency. MPWM’s current primary custodians are TD Ameritrade and Charles Schwab & Co; the firm is also willing to custody a client’s assets at a custodian that the client prefers.
Geography is not a factor in our decision to do business with a client. MPWM has clients spread throughout the United States. We are willing to travel wherever necessary and offer regular updates on portfolio holdings in-between formal reviews.
If you feel that your firm may be a fit as a client, please call us and discuss your specific situation.
The average number of core holdings in a fully invested discretionary portfolio varies between 18-22 individual company securities* if MPWM has an all equity mandate. If our client mandate requires a portion of the accounts to be allocated in fixed income, then we will hold 6-8 individual pieces of corporate or treasury debt.
*The phrase ‘individual company securities’ excludes mutual funds and ETFs.
Every employee of our firm invests alongside clients. We take pride in, “Eating our own cooking.”
MPWM considers itself different from other investment advisors as follows:
- Focused exclusively on a value oriented investment approach to assess the merits of an investment in an individual company.
- Holding relatively few securities concentrated in our best ideas sourced from around the world, across many industries, and of all market capitalizations.
- Willing to take an activist role with company management if and when necessary to improve shareholder value.
