Global Value Investment Corp’s institutional client division is Milwaukee Institutional Asset Management (MIAM).
MIAM provides Investment Advisory services utilizing value-oriented investment principles. Institutional investors such as Registered Investment Advisory firms and their Investment Advisory Representatives, as well as Broker-Dealers and their Registered Representatives, work in partnership with the firm, engaging us as either a Sub-Advisor or a 3rd Party Advisor to their clientele.
Institutional investors work with our firm to manage their client portfolios and offer a unique investment solution. MIAM plays a supporting role in the success of our partner’s business, enabling greater relationship development with existing clients and new client development.
MIAM manages portfolios to meet the specific allocation required by our partners. Client mandates are typically Equity or Balanced – comprised of a 50/50 allocation. The firm’s research analysts are available for one on one client meetings over the phone or in person as requested by our partners. MIAM provides written investment thesis summaries that are suitable for client distribution. Further supporting documentation is periodically generated to provide updates on holdings.
MIAM interfaces with multiple account custodians. The firm can provide client quality SMA account reports for our partners and their clients as requested.
MIAM offers a unique solution that allows its Institutional partners to differentiate themselves in a field dominated by a few large mutual fund complexes, an ever growing number of ETFs, and an emerging Robo-Advisor. Our solution includes:

The firm’s principal owners believe it is good practice to “Eat Our Own Cooking” by holding the very same securities we recommend to clients. We believe there is no better way to align our incentives with those of our clients and partners than to own the same securities.
MIAM considers itself different from other managers as follows:
- We focus exclusively on a value oriented investment approach to assess the merits of an investment in an individual company.
- We hold relatively few securities concentrated in only our best ideas sourced from around the world, across many industries, and all market capitalizations.
- We are willing to take an activist role with company management if and when necessary to improve shareholder value.

Institutions choose to work with MIAM for a variety of reasons. Our institutional clients and prospective clients tell us they recognize the importance of engaging a value-oriented investment management firm that invests in the securities of individual companies, which allow the Advisor to differentiate investment process from one exclusively focused on fund families. We understand firms elect to work with us because the expense and opportunity cost of focusing on investment research & analysis can be very high while also distracting to other essential client facing activities.
MIAM is a fee based Investment Advisory firm. We receive compensation only from clients. We have a simple advisory fee structure based on a percentage of assets under management (AUM). We do not charge transactional fees, commissions, or other extraneous expense for doing business and do not pay or receive fees for client referrals.
We are custodian agnostic and would defer to client’s for custodial firm preferences. If a client does not have an exceptional custodial service relationship, MIAM can make introductions TD Ameritrade, Charles Schwab & Co, or Fidelity.
Please refer to our SEC form ADV which can be accessed here, or complete the contact form located to the right. Otherwise give us a call to discuss how we can best partner with you and your firm.
The average number of core holdings in a fully invested discretionary portfolio varies between 18-22 individual company securities* if MIAM has an all equity mandate. If the client mandate requires a portion of the accounts to be allocated in fixed income, then we will hold 6-8 individual pieces of corporate or treasury debt.
*The phrase ‘individual company securities’ excludes mutual funds and ETFs.
Every employee of our firm invests alongside clients. We take pride in, “Eating our own cooking.”
Geography is not a factor in our decision to do business with a client. We are willing to travel wherever necessary and offer regular updates on portfolio holdings in-between formal reviews.
If you feel that your firm may be a fit as a client, please call us and discuss your specific situation.
